This band delivers their music with a lot of variation in speed which makes the songs memorable and entertaining which is hardly the case nowadays. Pressing Details Reissue: 250x limited colored Vinyl and 750x black Vinyl, Etching on Side B, heavy Vinyl, Insert, Artwork by Alex CF 'Tharn' (meaning 'fear') is a single-track remix release of 'Dominion Theology' taken from their latest album 'Elil', but feels more like a teaser for new material from Brighton's Fall of Efrafa. Paper Aeroplane, the remix masters at work here have turned what is a harsh and bleak track and infused it with piano, cello and a sense of post-rock pleasantries. Their wording of this in release material as a 're-imagining' of the track, although a stomach-churning term, in this case is accurate. Taking sections of guitar and sections of the relentless heaviness and turning it into almost a soundtrack-like piece of music is a great way to manipulate and show off FoE's grandeur in a way they had obviously not thought of before. it was released on 300 one-sided LPs with a beautiful screen-printed b-side, this release is sold out since a super long time, which shows you how fast word travels on a fantastic band. Big time instrumental emo (circa 1994-style) complete with piano and a cello to round out a well developed and executed piece of music. Gruff, yelled vocals make a brief appearance after a l...o...n...g calm and help usher things into more of a concerted song - yes, song, singular. The one songed, one-sided 12" has a beautifully screened B-side that does not play music. The side that does is comprised mostly of singular instruments slowly coalescing and ultimately reaching a crescendo of epic...ness. Dreary, emotional, and made for certain rainy nights alone, this is bringing me back to sad days in high school. Apparently known in some circles of heavyier music, FALL OF EFRAFA has taken a piece of music originally done by PAPER AEROPLANE and given it their personal touch of eloquence. For fans of GOSPEL, DROWNING WITH OUR ANCHORS, and MINERAL.

Three gentlemen from Italy, putting forth a two song LP that clocks in just over 25 minutes. This music literally feels thick and heavy, but at no point does it ever sound muddied or "too much," if there is such a thing. These guys take Black Metal, Doom, and Post-Rock and slap it all together for one hell of a sound. I can see this being taken for a sludgy "Cascadian" Black Metal band, although, they're definitely a bit out of the actual Range to be considered that. Take Wolves in the Throne Room, easy example, give them a nature abortion, and shoot them up with some black tar, and you might have at least a mental image of what this will sound like. "Winternight,"the fourteen minute opening track casually guides us through the breadth of their music. Starting us off with a well placed pipe organ working its way through the background before being accompanied by harshly distorted guitars. The sound fades and at seven minutes, the moment you were waiting for with shit-yourself-anticipation, is finally revealed. Scathing, abrasive vocals and post-black/rock guitars penetrate the village of the ear farmers, likely bringing along with it a creepy skyline and soundtrack to the end of their lives. (see Battle Path review if that makes no sense) Track two, "Abyss of Throats," not only has an awesome title but is also an excellent continuation of the first 14 minutes that you didn't want to end. Clocking in at just over 11 minutes, this track picks up a lot quicker than its predecessor. About a minute in, we're already looking at what's in store for the next ten minutes, spaced out, atmospheric Post Black Doom. (stupid genre labels)

Such a sound could only be born of the worldwide underground, of the global anti-capitalist movement that DIY has become. It is fitting then, that their latest album be a work created entirely by the band themselves, with production, mixing, and mastering by Habak drummer Patrick Alexander at Cacho Studio in Tijuana in the fall of 2024. Habak is at the point of dynamic mastery. Nothing is done without intention, every upbeat part is prefaced. Nothing fast happens without introduction, and certainly not by a hastily added drum fill. Habak are too sophisticated for that, especially for a band combining two genres both not exactly known for such discernment and poise. Likened to early 2000’s Spanish emocrust, Habak’s playing from guitarists Juan and Eduardo is as gorgeous as ever, but the songwriting accentuates the beauty of such melodies in a way still unachieved by many of their peers. Rounded out by bassist Alejandro and vocalist Alex, the band forms like a diamond with perfect clarity, shining with a beauty that only an ensemble refined by over a decade of pressure could.

Who perfectly combine different elements from doom, sludge & post-rock and give it a special touch by the emotional vocals and long instrumental-parts. A band with much potential in the footsteps of Cult Of Luna & Envy. REKA from Moscow, Russia play excellent atmospheric sludgey hardcore. All parts feel very well placed with no dull moments or filler, every track is heavy and memorable, perfect build ups with satisfying crushing payoffs. Its a really enjoyable, intense album. The band features the vocalist from CELESTE, several members of OPTIMUS PRIME and FORTUNAE VERBERA. The sound is heavy and has a dirty sludgey touch. Absolutely recommandable for fans of CELESTE and (faster) AMEN RA.

Drawing influence from postrock, sludge, doom and blackmetal.
This is an immensely complex band, lyrically and musically. Peeling this back like an onion reveals a mixture of down-tuned hardcore punk with seriously dark metallic overtones and atmospheric textures piercing through waves of thick reverb. Lyrical overtones paint a bleak existential foray into the decay of society, poetic without sounding contrived, and are well translated from the native Austrian-inflected German.
 

This release is a collaboration between the Portland/Olympia based DarkFolk band Vradiazei and the spread all over Europe music collective Las Casas Viejas. The whole record is chracterized by mostly unplugged instruments, quiet and intimate sounds creating a mystical experience. Las Casas Viejas: We´d like to share two songs „Während des Tages“ and „...... und während der Nacht“ (During the day ...... and during the night) on this Split Record. These two songs are connected musically and in content, telling the story of experiencing a period of 24 hours using various instruments such as: organ, a microtonal tuned piano played with eight electro magnets, e-bows, percussion, micro tonal tuned hammered dulcimer and xyleophone next to guitars, bass drums and vocals. „Während desTages“ was recorded live at a friends house in the Austrian Alps, „...und während der Nacht“ was recorded a couple of weeks later at East End Studio in Berlin. Vradiazei: The tracks we are sharing on this release form a bridge from our earlier work to the present. Falling Water was recorded in a living room in 2013 in Olympia while Christine and Lilia were still fully in the band. It is the last song we wrote with that lineup and is previously unreleased. In 2016 we became a two piece and Ximeronei and Nychtonei emerged as our first compositions while we adjusted to our new configuration. We recorded these during winter 2019 in Olympia at a recording studio called the Owl Lodge. They can be considered two movements of the same piece, with Ximeronei representing new beginnings and Nychtonei, the inevitable end.
