Split EP between PANACEA and ALL DAY HELL! Panacea: What a truly moving album. Very minimal at times, and very complex at times. This work has a sound that nods towards ANTISCHISMbut has much more complex and diverse sound, not unlike NEUROSIS’ Souls At Zero.This album constantly has a surprise around each bend, but remains consistent conceptually and sonically. Does anyone remember a band from Germany called ZORN? PANACEA and several other bands as of late remind me of that band, who was way ahead of their time. Drawing from punk, crust and metal, these bands have managed to create thought provoking and emotional masterpieces that could very well be a sound track to a movie. It’s nice to have a change from the overtly political (not that I do not like that kinda stuff) to stuff that reaches into the depths of the human heart and soul that is still intelligent and not selfish or cheesy in concept. Starting off kinda sludgy and borderline drone – like, the first track changes pace from dreary to manic with a touch of sadness and desperation….which is a steady constant throughout the album. It’s almost as if there is a story being told, of adventure and tragedy. A soundtrack of a life time if you will. Each song is predominantly heavy on driving guitar parts ranging from slow to fast, while others also incorporate more quiet introspective interludes of less distorted guitars laced with strings and keyboards and sampled sound effects. I suspect they have been listening to Steve Von Till’s solo work and/or Amber Asylum….at least that is what MY ears detect! The last track is the one that truly stands out from the rest. It is absent of vocals as well as the heavy guitar parts. An ambient piece that properly brings the album to a close in a most introspective manner. It kind of takes the listener by surprise since the album shifts back and forth so smoothly on it’s sonic roller coaster ride then lulls the listener into a trance. This track, titled “Spirit From The Abyss” does not mean to deceive the listener, but while waiting for the song to morph into another emotion like the rest of the album….it’s easy to forget that you are still waiting…..and it does not change. And before you know it, the song….as well as the album is over and you are left hanging….in a state of peace mixed with a tinge of despair. Now that, to me is a good listen! From beginning to end Under Blackened Sky crescendos into a wraith of thoughts, feelings and sound that wraps its cold shriveled fingers and does not let go until the end. And when you are released you are staggering and wondering what just hit you.  

Breag Naofa speeds up its crushing post metal/doom with a lil dbeat/crust fury that is all catchy melody and heaviness. Cildren Of God pounds away vicously as heard on its recent Lps and splits. ( the song got recorded during the recording session for the lp, so it fits right into this sound...)

The Transgression trilogy of Red Apollo comes to an end after the splits with Gottesmorder, Sundowning and now Withers. Germany vs. Austria this time and it’s a friendly match because both bands show how close they sound together. Normally pretty mid-tempo; “Mental Enlightment” is an up-tempo song and shows the brighter and energetic side of Red Apollo. Still there are the dark undertones combined with a grooving part when the hellish screams kick in. A nineties metalcore riff is the starting point of the postrock/black metal last half of the song. A melancholic undertone combined with a doomy vibe is raging until the end. Once again these Germans show how to combine different genres in one compact song. Faster with a traditional hardcore and metal pace is what Withers show us in less than three minutes. There is a blackened crust edge surrounded in the overall feel of the song, together with the chaotic spectrum of hardcore. In contrary to the different approach of their neighbors, the production (especially the sound of the guitars) is similar. If you are into bands like The Secret or Downfall of Gaia this split EP cannot be missed.

Little Sister's self-titled EP is now available on 7" vinyl with a double-sided foldover jacket. Formed in Ohio in 2010, Little Sister (w/ Members of Masakari) is a five-piece band from Cleveland that combines elements of hardcore, crust, and death metal to create a vicious tension between underlying melodies and undeniable power. The band tackles the issues of war, oppression, and alienation in a semi-detached but realistic form to a completely dark, brooding, and devastating soundtrack.

first of are Capsule from Florida which should be known since their amazing album entitled "blue" on robotic empire records. With "whole grounds" they contribute one song which stands for the developement of this band. Containing ex-members of Kylesa and Torche, they formed an uncomparable sound of heavy music. Impressing guitartunes coupled with passages of delayeffects are only one ingrediant. Without getting boring you´ll notice that parts return and win ground with each runningtime. Carried by surprising accents, dry basslines, an in your subcoscious mind engraving voice and sluggish drumming, this band knows how to write great music. Up next are Boston´s forward raging band called Furnace. With "friendly cosmos" and "clumb satellite" they contribute two songs which are blowing away every single doubt you might have, if you thought this band is something like Capsule`s sidekick for this release. This three-piece band wrenches a whole in your ears and knows how to fill it. Absolute forward raging drum- , guitar- and basslines paired with multiple voices are ready to hit your recordplayer and surprises with a wide range of tempi. A really tight style and a brilliant sense to assemble fragments making this band to one of the most underrated ensembles around.  

I love when I can feel music deep in my bones, and that makes me think about things bigger than myself. I love music that drips with emotion and waves the flag of change for us all.
