The Tijuana, MX band’s crust melódico is stronger and more intricately written than it’s ever been on their third LP and sixth official release, "Mil Orquídeas En Medio Del Desierto" (A Thousand Orchids in the Middle of the Desert). Following their 2015 debut "Insania" and 2020’s "Ningún Muro Consiguió Jamás Contener La Primavera", Habak’s "Mil Orquídeas En Medio Del Desierto" expounds on a sound whose influence feels equal parts influenced by d-beat creators Discharge and atmospheric post-hardcore legends Envy. Such a sound could only be born of the worldwide underground, of the global anti-capitalist movement that DIY has become. It is fitting then, that their latest album be a work created entirely by the band themselves, with production, mixing, and mastering by Habak drummer Patrick Alexander at Cacho Studio in Tijuana in the fall of 2024. Habak is at the point of dynamic mastery. Nothing is done without intention, every upbeat part is prefaced. Nothing fast happens without introduction, and certainly not by a hastily added drum fill. Habak are too sophisticated for that, especially for a band combining two genres both not exactly known for such discernment and poise. Likened to early 2000’s Spanish emocrust, Habak’s playing from guitarists Juan and Eduardo is as gorgeous as ever, but the songwriting accentuates the beauty of such melodies in a way still unachieved by many of their peers. Rounded out by bassist Alejandro and vocalist Alex, the band forms like a diamond with perfect clarity, shining with a beauty that only an ensemble refined by over a decade of pressure could.

OVERMARS from Lyon, France comes along with a perfect slab of music. the vocal attack is superb. the instrumentation is perfect! it's a great, trance inducing section of music. the heavy vocals, the slow, pounding rhythm, the ambient touches, the way the bass creeps in has the old Venom tone. The guitar interplay with the electronics during the long, methodical building process is spot on. the next vocal section is utterly downtrodden - perfect for the music which has sort of a NEUROSIS/SOULS AT ZERO being dismantled feel. the music has a real elastic quality here with the slow drum count, the jangly guitars and the flopping bass string tone. nothing but high praise from me on this song!!!

Who perfectly combine different elements from doom, sludge & post-rock and give it a special touch by the emotional vocals and long instrumental-parts. A band with much potential in the footsteps of Cult Of Luna & Envy. REKA from Moscow, Russia play excellent atmospheric sludgey hardcore. All parts feel very well placed with no dull moments or filler, every track is heavy and memorable, perfect build ups with satisfying crushing payoffs. Its a really enjoyable, intense album. The band features the vocalist from CELESTE, several members of OPTIMUS PRIME and FORTUNAE VERBERA. The sound is heavy and has a dirty sludgey touch. Absolutely recommandable for fans of CELESTE and (faster) AMEN RA.

Drawing influence from postrock, sludge, doom and blackmetal.
This is an immensely complex band, lyrically and musically. Peeling this back like an onion reveals a mixture of down-tuned hardcore punk with seriously dark metallic overtones and atmospheric textures piercing through waves of thick reverb. Lyrical overtones paint a bleak existential foray into the decay of society, poetic without sounding contrived, and are well translated from the native Austrian-inflected German.
 

This release is a collaboration between the Portland/Olympia based DarkFolk band Vradiazei and the spread all over Europe music collective Las Casas Viejas. The whole record is chracterized by mostly unplugged instruments, quiet and intimate sounds creating a mystical experience. Las Casas Viejas: We´d like to share two songs „Während des Tages“ and „...... und während der Nacht“ (During the day ...... and during the night) on this Split Record. These two songs are connected musically and in content, telling the story of experiencing a period of 24 hours using various instruments such as: organ, a microtonal tuned piano played with eight electro magnets, e-bows, percussion, micro tonal tuned hammered dulcimer and xyleophone next to guitars, bass drums and vocals. „Während desTages“ was recorded live at a friends house in the Austrian Alps, „...und während der Nacht“ was recorded a couple of weeks later at East End Studio in Berlin. Vradiazei: The tracks we are sharing on this release form a bridge from our earlier work to the present. Falling Water was recorded in a living room in 2013 in Olympia while Christine and Lilia were still fully in the band. It is the last song we wrote with that lineup and is previously unreleased. In 2016 we became a two piece and Ximeronei and Nychtonei emerged as our first compositions while we adjusted to our new configuration. We recorded these during winter 2019 in Olympia at a recording studio called the Owl Lodge. They can be considered two movements of the same piece, with Ximeronei representing new beginnings and Nychtonei, the inevitable end.

Pressing Details / Repress: 150x clear Vinyl with black haze, 350x black vinyl! Light Bearer are not stuck in any one heavy music genre, but open to everything. What i mean by that is there is no formulaic style to the songs on this album. But to try to give an idea of where they are coming from i'd draw comparisons to unconventional post metal/hardcore bands like Isis, Red Sparowes or Amenra. The two years of development of 'Silver Tongue' has brought interrelated and interwoven changes which seamlessly merge with it's narrative. Would it be ok to ue a word like 'beautiful' with such aggressive heavy music? With a personality and style well and truly all their own. The cello goes very deep on 'Matriarch', a dark slow passage accompanied by very sorrowful singing. Which leads into a crow like vocal sound on the opening of 'Clarus', but switches to a church like hmyn. These passages lead nicely into a more controntational 'Aggressor & Usurper' which has a real decent ascent and descent throughout. Like an orchestral piece this song has changes which go from a macabre sounding piano and violin. Then to real all out frenzied coarse type hardcore. The final 'Silver Tongue' starts in a completely different manner. It could even be radio friendly in the very beginning. But like a symphony it has changes from a very layererd slow pulsating heavy harcore rhythm to an ambiance with orchestral like percussion. Light Bearer have now set a high standard other band will have to struggle to match.

NORTHLESS Since I've been running this label there's been very few times in my life that I've been witness to such a crushing sludge metal band. Northless blew my mind the first time I listend them as a four-piece. With this Split the band's intensity is captured on record, at long last. Since adding two additional members to the lineup (the band started as guitar/drum duo) Northless has expanded on their original style of atmospheric sludgy metal and gone beyond the barrier that holds lesser bands back. This progression enabled Northless to break through into new territory and write truly exceptional songs, more focused, more dense. This Split might be one of the most misanthropic, angst-filled albums I've ever heard, but it never fails to instill a feeling of hope in the listener. A hope that a band can draw upon familiar influences and personal experiences, draw on them and combine them to create something that breaks the mold of slow & heavy music.

this is an ALERTA ANTIFASCISTA Release that got released back in 2005 and i found some in my warehouse. i guess its the last time to get this masterpiece from this venezuelanian band.Way more "crusty" and aggressive than their previous records. 14 songs of cool southamerican Hcpunk by this venezuelan band are delivered in a very convincing, fas and angry way - some spoken word stuff and melodic bits thrown in for your listening pleasure. The songs are transformed chapters of the book "the open wounds of South America" by Galeano. Excellent record from a brilliant band. Lyrix are dealing with the history of South America in general and the situation of Venezuela today. Cover and booklet are nicely put together and all lyrix and comments are translated in english - Highly recommended!

Malatesta are a German crust band that began in 2009 and changed vocalist in 2018. d-beat punx honouring your early 2000 backpatches and heavily inspired by the Swedish and Portland dark crust scenes of the earlier part of this century. Their upcoming record „Unter Tage“ is a blistering echo from those days. This is an amazing record that makes you wanna be in front of a stage, fist in the air longing for a better future while living in a dystopian reality.Recorded back in 2020  by Falk and than mixed and mastered by Role at the Tonmeisterei. Alerta Antifascista is proud to present the LP version of "The Prophet Feeds", the debut album from Midwest bashers Masakari. This band is amazing and this first full-legnth of theirs is relentless, unhinged, chaotic crust! Somewhat in the vein of His Hero is Gone, Tragedy and From Ashes Rise, but with a very distinct and brutal edge, Masakari fuses their apocalyptic crust with the raging power of Discharge/Disfear D-beat and the hard-edged Japanese punk stylings of G.I.S.M., with a smattering of blast-beat driven grindcore to drive it all home. After the huge underground buzz of their debut 7", the band was ready to take their cataclysmic protest punk to a whole different level and "The Prophet Feeds" is that next step. It is an epic record that takes your breath away with its very scope; not an easy undertaking for an album that is only 10 songs and less than 30 minutes long!
